The Plague Doctor Beard Oil by Raven Beard Co. is a whisper from centuries ago, EO (Essential Oils Only). It’s a very unique oil with a scent profile so complex. Exotic Ylang Ylang laid upon Dry Tobacco and Leather, Cedarwood, Juniper Berry, Frankincense, Myrrh, veiled in incense and earth. A scent of letters never sent, of footsteps in marble corridors, and the slow decay of beautiful things. Brewed with the wisdom of the old world and a touch of modern alchemy. Herbaceous spice, clean resins, and ancient oils come together to protect your beard like a charm against the plague.
Plague doctors appeared primarily during the 17th century (1600s) in Europe, although early forms of plague doctors existed as far back as the 14th century (1300s) during the Black Death. They filled their iconic beak masks with a mix of aromatic herbs, spices, and botanicals. They believed “miasma” (bad air) caused the plague, so the scent was thought to purify and protect them. The ingredients below were believed to purify the air the doctor breathed and protect them from infection. While they didn’t actually prevent the plague, the beak served as an early form of a respirator, and the herbs may have slightly reduced the stench of disease and decay.
Each batch will hold 12 bottles with batch number printed on label. But these are not going to be made 12 bottles at a time. Each and every bottle will be handmade, hand poured after this unique oil is ordered. We brew in solitude, not in bulk. There are no stockpiles gathering dust in the shadows. Only upon your summons does the artisan begin the ritual. Each dram is a singular creation, handcrafted and hand-poured specifically for the one who called it forth. A unique oil, existing for no one else but you.
The Carrier Blend:
